The inland part of Shandong is very historic. It has produced many greats - Kung-tze in Qufu and Sun-tze in Huimin, amongst others. The locals call their province the Land of Qi-Lu. On the other hand, the coastal part of Shandong houses some of the most "westernised" cities of China - Qingdao and Yantai. The former still carries many traces of German influence, even with its famous Tsingtao Beer. China's No 1 winemaker, Changyu, is also there.
