This w book is not meant for people who are already knowledgeable on the subjects written, rather, it is intended to help younger ethnic Chinese know more about their roots and be proud of China. Two-thirds of the book is about China’s history since Huang-Di, interspersed with teachings, legends, festivals, practices, etc that can be attributed to the dynasty/era covered, and the rest about what China has achieved over the last couple of decades and the attempt by the US and pro-West forces to retard China. (Many Chinese are still holding highly prejudiced views about the Chinese government and their very own culture – thanks to the might of their media – which the author wants to help correct.) He does not mean to be chauvinistic, but being a widely read and travelled individual, he has come to realization that only with a strong China that all Chinese can walk tall in this Western-centric world! Nonetheless, he wants to say this to readers: Feel free to disagree!
